If your electrical panel is old, unsafe, or simply not keeping up with your home’s power needs, a breaker panel replacement is one of the smartest upgrades you can make. At Franks Innovative Electric Inc., we replace outdated panels with modern, code-compliant equipment designed to improve safety, reliability, and capacity. For many homeowners, this service solves common problems like tripped breakers, flickering lights, limited circuit space, and panels that are no longer approved for safe use.
Your breaker panel is the main hub of your home’s electrical system. It takes power from the utility and distributes it safely to your lights, outlets, appliances, air conditioning, garage equipment, kitchen circuits, and more. When that panel is worn out, undersized, damaged, or outdated, it can create serious issues. In some homes, the panel may have corrosion, heat damage, double-tapped breakers, improper wiring, or a lack of room for added circuits. In others, the panel may be too small for modern electrical demand, especially if you are adding an EV charger, upgrading HVAC equipment, remodeling a kitchen, or planning a full rewiring project.
When a Breaker Panel Replacement Makes Sense
We often recommend panel replacement when homeowners are dealing with recurring electrical issues or when the existing equipment is no longer a good fit for the home. Warning signs can include breakers that trip often, burning smells near the panel, buzzing sounds, visible rust, warm breakers, melted wires, or lights that dim when major appliances turn on. Some older panels are also known to have safety concerns or may not meet current code requirements. If your panel is outdated or has been flagged during a home sale, insurance review, or renovation, replacement may be the safest and most cost-effective choice.
A new breaker panel can also be the right move if you need more electrical capacity. Many older homes were built for much lighter power use than homes need today. Between larger kitchen loads, home offices, smart devices, electric dryers, tankless water heaters, and electric vehicle chargers, modern demand is much higher. Replacing the panel helps prepare your home for these upgrades and gives you available space for future circuits.
What Our Breaker Panel Replacement Service Includes
Our goal is to make the process simple and professional from start to finish. We focus on residential homeowners in Riverside and across the Inland Empire, and we bring 20 years of combined experience to this type of work. We handle the details that often overwhelm homeowners, including permits, utility coordination, scheduling, and final approval.
A typical breaker panel replacement may include:
- Inspection of the existing electrical panel and service setup
- Review of your home’s power needs and circuit requirements
- Replacement of the old panel with a new code-compliant breaker panel
- Installation of new breakers and proper circuit labeling
- Installation of a surge protector, which is part of our current standard
- Reconnection and organization of existing branch circuit wiring
- Coordination with the utility for disconnect and reconnect service
- City permits and required inspections
- Stucco opening and repair as needed after inspection
Paint is not included, but stucco repair is included after the inspection process is complete.
Our Process
We believe homeowners deserve to know exactly what to expect. When you call us for a breaker panel replacement, we explain the full scope of the project in plain language. We review the existing setup, discuss your goals, and provide a total price that includes permits and applicable fees. Once you are ready to move forward, we sign the contract and collect 10% up front for panel upgrade work. After that, we pull permits, coordinate with the utility, and schedule the disconnect and reconnect date.
Most panel replacement projects are typically scheduled about 2 to 3 weeks out, depending on city and utility availability. On the installation day, we open the wall or stucco as needed, remove the original panel, install the new panel, reconnect wiring, and install new breakers and surge protection. The work is then inspected before repair of the wall finish is completed. After the inspection passes, we complete the stucco repair and call for final city approval. The remaining 90% is due after final inspection. We accept check or credit card.
Why Homeowners Replace Their Electrical Panel
There are several practical reasons to invest in a breaker panel replacement. Safety is the biggest one. A damaged or obsolete panel can increase the risk of overheating, arcing, and unreliable breaker protection. Replacing it with modern equipment helps protect your home and family.
Another major benefit is performance. A new panel gives your electrical system a stronger foundation. It can improve consistency, reduce nuisance tripping, and make it easier to run today’s appliances and electronics. It also creates room for future additions such as EV chargers, dedicated circuits, a workshop, hot tub wiring, or solar-related electrical upgrades.
Panel replacement can also help during remodels and property sales. Buyers, home inspectors, and insurance carriers often look closely at the electrical panel. Updating the panel can remove a major red flag and support the long-term value of the home.
